First X-Men

Wrapping up Neal Adams Week at Unpublished X-Men, we bring you a shot of Wolverine that was one of a series of Ebay auctions some years back.  This week has featured Neal Adams drawing the All-New All-Different X-Men, rather than the Original Team he drew in the comics.  If you haven't seen it yet, check out First X-Men, a series he drew just last year featuring Wolverine's attempt to bring together a team of mutants before Professor X's original team!

Third Line-Up - Updated!

Although there is no artist credited, this X-Men group shot from The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe - Master Edition looks like the work of Dave Cockrum to me.
Update - Josef Rubinstein's Facebook page confirms that he inked this artwork by Dave Cockrum.  I've included his picture of the line art below.

Lifedeath 3

Lifedeath 3, the sequel to Lifedeath (Uncanny X-Men 186) and Lifedeath 2 (Uncanny X-Men 198), has the unique status of being an unpublished X-Men story you can buy.  The art for the story was completed by Barry Windsor-Smith, but rejected by Marvel due to the story's dealing with suicide.  However, years later he reworked the story, replacing Storm with his creator-owned character Adastra from his series Young Gods.

Here's a link to Barry Windsor-Smith's website, where you can also find a direct link for purchasing the book.

Rob Liefeld X-Factor/New Mutants

From Rob Liefeld's blog:
"...I was given an inventory story written by Howard Mackie featuring X-Factor and the New Mutants. This is well before I would introduce Cable or Deadpool in New Mutants, this was the pre-Cable cast of characters. The idea was that it could be scheduled a either an X-Factor or a New Mutants fill-in story. The focus of the issue is heavily trained on the character of Warlock and his fascination with a character named Madcap. I drew it and presumably, shortly after taking over the regular New Mutants title, the book went in such a different direction that this book was viewed as obsolete."

We're concluding a week of Days of Future Past art with a look at two commissions by John Byrne, one is a reinterpretation of the classic cover to Uncanny X-Men 141, and the other is a direct recreation of the original art.
